George Washington

George Washington's Farewell Address was considered one of the 4 Key Founding Documents that students should study. The other 3 documents were -- the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Federalist Papers. This Address was actually not given to an audience, but published in the Newspaper on Constitution Day ~ Sept 17th. So it in effect serves as Washington's treatise on the Constitution and the lessons of living in freedom and liberty that future generations should cherish and understand.
