The Dept of Energy was formed during Carter's administration to make us energy independent. Then, we were only 30% dependent on foreign oil; now we are 70% dependent. The hold-back was, in my opinion, the Presidential Administrations have had their hands tied since then by Henry Kissinger's deal in 1977-81, that Arab countries produce oil for the USA in exchange for American National Debt, while committing to shutting down nearly all real oil production in the USA. We need to drill everywhere and truly make us oil independent while alternative energy is being worked on.
